Tribute to the late Sis. Barbara E. Young

The Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas mourns the passing of Sis. Barbara Elaine Young of the Belize/Honduras District.  Sis. Young died on March 29th, four days short of her 42nd birthday, after a time of illness.

Sis. Young served her Lord at various levels of the church's administration.  At the Circuit level she was an accredited Local Preacher and a Commissioned Lay Worker.  She served for many years as the District Treasurer for the Belize/Honduras District and was a member of that  Conference.  Connexionally she contributed to the hymnody of the Caribbean and the Americas through the many hymns that she penned arising from her faith in Jesus Christ.  Three of her hymns will be included in "Voices in Praise" the new hymn book of the MCCA.

Past and present Connexional Officers and several of the Presbyters and Deacons who served in the Belize/Honduras District can attest to Barbara's ministry of hospitality and care.  She displayed a love which was boundless and sincere.  At the last Connexional Council meeting that took place in Roatan, Honduras Sis. Young attended as a visitor.

A service of thanksgiving for her life and witness took place on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at 1.00 pm at Wesley Church, Belize City.   Interment will followed at Homeland Memorial Park, Belize.

May the soul of Sis. Barbara Elaine Young rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her!
