MCCA Deacons meet in Convocation
Members of the Wesley Diaconal Community of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas met in Convocation from October 3rd to 10th in St Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. Sessions took place at the Philipsburg Methodist Church, with accommodation at the nearby Sea View Hotel. Under a theme taken from Exodus 4, verse 2 "what is that in your hand?" various aspects of the deacons' call to spheres of service were explored.
At the Opening Worship Service, the Deacons were welcomed by Rev. Charles Seaton, Superintendent Minister of the St Maarten Circuit, Rev. Stephane Brooks, Superintendent Minister of the neighbouring French St Martin Circuit and Rev. Nichola Barrett-Glasgow, serving in the St Maarten Circuit.
Other presbyters who were involved in Convocation were Rev. Dr George Mulrain, Connexional President, who preached at the Opening Service, Rev. Dr H. Clifton Niles, Supernumerary who led sessions on leadership styles, Rev. Cecil Weekes, Supernumerary who led Bible Study and Rev. Otto Wade, Connexional Secretary, who officiated at the Closing Worship.
Diakonia World Federation was represented at the Convocation by Deaconess Lisa Polito, Executive Director of the Lutheran Deaconess Association
