WORDS OF WISDOM

WEEK 2

FREE TO RETURN

Focus

"but the dove found no place to set its foot, and it returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took it and brought it into the ark with him."

Genesis 8: 9 (NRSV)

Facts

  • Ravens and doves are  birds with the ability to fly, but these are the facts.
  • The raven has the inbuilt stamina to fly high and keep soaring for long periods without resting its feet.
  • The dove, on the other hand, is not as strong a flier as the raven and it needs to rest its feet.
  • When, at different times, Noah sent the raven and the dove out of the ark, this Sure Safe Shelter, which had kept them during the devastating flood, the dove had to return.

Capture this picture. A scared,  ruffled dove is flying back to its Sure Safe Shelter, and as it approaches, the dove sees the outstretched hand of Noah, knows a safe landing in his hands and feels the warm safe comfort, as it is held by Noah and brought back into the ark.

Freedom

Have you been 'sent out', by our Lord and Saviour for some special duty? Be free to be the dove and return. You have obeyed and as the sent one, you went out, but could find no 'resting place' for your feet. You acknowledge that our Saviour has kept you safe thus far, in Him and that you owe your life to Him. But today, in this period called now, though the floods are over and the drowning waters have stopped rising, if the receding waters are still too much for you, God's dove, return to Jesus our Ark. As you return, ere your condition or state, be received by Jesus. He NEVER refuses a Returnee.

See His outstretched Hand, just for you.

Know a safe landing in His welcoming arms.

Feel again the comfort of being held by Him and taken back by Him, your Sure Safe Shelter.
