Week 17

THE MIRACLE PLACE OF CHRISTMAS IS EARTHLY

 

This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger."  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,   "Glory to God in the highest heaven,  and on earth peace among those whom he favors!"
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us." 
So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. 
When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them.  But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.  The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

FOCUS:

" This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger." ( Luke 2: 12)


Shepherds, these ordinary working people, have received the good news of great joy. To them and to the world, a Saviour is born. It is God's plan to give them and us, a sign that will guarantee a new beginning in Him.

 

FACTS

The birth of a baby is a natural earthly occurrence. How will they know which baby is the Saviour?  By these earthly things which God in His wisdom chooses to be His sign.

  1. You will find a baby wrapped in cloths. By His clothes, His humble garments, you will recognize Him.
  2. You will find a baby lying in a manger. In a most lowly place, you will find Him.


Can you see and hear the Lord's perfect assurance in His words, "..you will find.."? Is not the Lord saying to them:-

  • You will Reach the Saviour of the world;
  • You will Recognize the Saviour of the world;
  • You will Receive  the Saviour of the world.

With neither hesitation nor procrastination, these shepherds hurry off and find their Lord and Saviour. Has this not given them a new and exciting beginning? Look at how they share the Message of Christmas with others, praising and glorifying God for all that they have experienced. 

 

FREEDOM

The Message of Christmas is still being broadcast. The excitement of Christmas is still high. Christmas lights are still lit and the 'Christmas Sale' signs are still hanging. For you or someone else, there is still time to find The Saviour of the World. The sign is there for you. You will find the Saviour Jesus by the humility He wears and the lowliness He accepts. But first, like these shepherds, you must leave your present place to go to the place where He is.

Wherever you are, are you willing to leave pride, will and self, to find your Saviour? Are you willing to go to the place of humility and lowliness to worship Jesus ?  As you come to the dawning of another year, will you not receive a new and exciting beginning?  Hear again God's guaranteed assurance. You will Reach Jesus, You will Recognize Jesus, You will Receive Jesus for He Is in our earthly place.
