Words of Wisdom

Week 20

BE THE DOOR TO YOUR HOUSEHOLD

Read Exodus 12: 1-30

FOCUS

What is the time period? "....the first month of your year."   (Exodus 12: 2(b) )

What is the place?  It is Egypt, the place of slavery, bondage and untold suffering.

What is the call?   God has called each household to take some of the blood from the sacrificed animal and place on the sides and tops of the door frames of their houses.

God has come to the rescue of His Children, the Israelites. It is while they are still in the place of slavery that God tells His servant Moses to give His children this liberating news. Almighty God is going to strike down the enemy in the land where they and the enemy live. All His children are required to do, is obey the word concerning the blood on the door frames.

Listen closely to Exodus 13 and verse 23,

"When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the door frame and will pass over the doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down."

This is the word of The Father to His children, while they are STILL in the place of bondage. This is not Canaan, this is still Egypt.

FACTS

What an amazing word of comfort for many, at this time. God makes it abundantly clear to His children, through Moses His servant, that He is only looking for the sign of blood on the door frames of their houses. At this time, God is not looking to see who is in each household. He is not looking for the obedient or disobedient members of households here. He is not looking for the blood to be sprinkled on each person in the house. Today, God is looking for the 'DOOR' of the house, for on it the blood has been painted.

Will you listen once more to this comforting, assuring word of grace that Moses receives from God, to tell to His imprisoned, helpless, captured children?  Are you willing to hear this word? Is Our Heavenly Father speaking to you, saying to you:

  • I will see the blood on your door frame.
  • I will pass over your doorway.
  • I will not permit the destroyer to enter you house and strike you down.

What a Word!

FREEDOM

Is not our Omniscient God revealing His word of grace to us also? Is this still not the first month of a new year and many a household continues in turmoil because it is held captive by some mighty Pharaoh? Your family may be highly dysfunctional. Some may be lost to you, others simple do not live in the fear of the Lord and you agonize about them, praying night and day for your house. Will you take heart?  It may be that God has made you the 'door' to your family. The Blood of Christ, the Perfect Sacrifice, will be on you if by faith you remain obedient and surrendered to Him. God will look and see the Blood of His Son on you, and your household will know His guaranteed word of saving grace. They too will come to know that He Is God and will learn to fear Him.

Be the 'Blood stained door' to your household.
