ARE YOU IN A VALLEY? START DIGGING.


Read Genesis 26: 17 - 22



FOCUS

Isaac and his servants are in the valley of Gerar, a place they must pass through. It is a valley experience they must endure for a time.


Our main focus is on verse nineteen, for it is from this single verse that we will receive a word that will cause drooping spirits to soar, fainting hearts to become hopeful and doubting minds to know assurance.

"Isaac's servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there." ( Genesis 26: 19)

Remember, it is from this picture that our Word comes.


FACTS

Often, valley experiences knock us over. These valley times can cause our spirits to 'sink low', and to become disheartened. It is easy at this time, for depression, self-pity, helplessness and fear to take easy charge of us. But there is a conquering way of meeting the emptiness of the valley. We follow Isaac's servants in this conquering way.

In this valley, Isaac's servants are:-

  • DIGGING:-  They start digging, and digging. No valley life is easy, yet they begin to dig right there. Feeling sorry for themselves, complaining, or being helpless, was not their call. Can you see them in the valley, Digging?

 

  • DISCOVERING:- Because of their digging, searching, seeking, they become discoverers. They discover a well. There is water in the valley and they only discover this blessedness, because of their willingness to not allow the valley to get them down. Can you see them in the valley, Discovering wells?

 

  • DRINKING:- They do not just discover a well of water, but it is fresh water for drinking. The valley remains a valley, but they have found a source of comfort and strength. Can you see them in the valley, despite all the obstacles, Drinking fresh living water?


For all who may be in a valley today, for all whose spirits may be at an all time low, why not begin digging?



FREEDOM

Valleys cause you to be very down and depressed. Regardless of the reasons for your present valley experiences, know this truth. The hope of knowing some life change, the hope that makes your spirit soar again, is within you. Dig within yourself, keep searching until you discover the well of fresh truth within you. It is not just truth, but life-lifting truth, resurrecting truth, that feeds your faith, hope and trust in Jesus. This all takes place right here, in your valley.


Your have the Promised Gift within you. You have God's Word within you. Valleys must be faced. Thank God for this valley, because the assurance is given you that you can dig, discover and drink the life giving water of truth, that only Jesus supplies.
